What to Expect:

First, I will give you a quick phone call to understand what’s been bothering you. During that call, I will set up a secure online portal through Simple Practice where you’ll complete all of your paperwork. This paperwork is very important and needs to be finished the day before your first session. After that, I will send you an invitation to create a portal through Headway. Headway handles insurance and billing. They will ask for your insurance details and for you to put a credit card on file. Headway will check your insurance benefits for you. 

Two days before your first appointment, you’ll get a reminder from Simple Practice allowing you whether to confirm or cancel your session. My policy is that you need to cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a fee for cancelling late. One day before your appointment, you’ll get a link from Simple Practice with forms to fill out. You will also receive a message from Headway about your appointment and the amount that will be billed to your credit card once I confirm the session. I confirm appointments by the 15th, and at the end of the month. 

Your first session or sessions will be a structured chat where we talk about your family, friends, education, work, physical health, and mental health. We will also discuss what you hope to achieve from therapy. This process usually takes two visits. Between sessions, I will then create a plan for your treatment, and we will talk about it during your next session. Before every session, you will get a link to complete questionnaires about your recent experiences. It helps if you finish those before your session starts. After the initial assessment is completed fully your sessions are guided by what you want to work on and your treatment goals.
